About Me.
I'm Santhosh Kumar Selvam, a Principal Data Scientist at o9 Solutions with over a decade of experience applying Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to solve business challenges across supply chain, engineering, and IoT analytics. My work has primarily focused on driving large-scale analytics transformations for retail, consumer goods, and manufacturing companies, covering areas like supply chain planning, forecasting, allocation, replenishment, and inventory management.
I earned my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in July 2024 under the guidance of Dr. C. Rajendran. My doctoral research titled "Time Series Forecasting using Machine Learning and Operations Research," explored advanced feature engineering, multi-objective forecast generation, and ensembling techniques to improve forecasting accuracy. I also hold a Master of Science in Operations Research from IIT Madras and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, in 2013. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to publish research in leading journals and secure U.S. patents in IoT Analytics.
At o9 Solutions, I lead a team of data scientists and manage data science engagements for retail and distribution clients. My role spans thought leadership in data-driven decision-making, designing solutions, setting industry best practices, and overseeing deployments. I also lead efforts to standardize processes and develop next-generation product capabilities.
Before joining o9, I spent over nine years at Philips, Lennox, and Caterpillar. At Philips, I implemented AI & ML solutions for the Philips Personal Health Division. At Lennox, I developed advanced time series models for supply chain planning and IoT-based pattern recognition algorithms to improve building simulations. I also led the creation of an application for reliability analytics replacing industry tools, a product substitution tool for inventory optimization, and a people analytics dashboard to help inform data-driven decision-making and people strategy. I'm also proud to be an alumnus of Caterpillar's exclusive Leadership & Technology Development Program, where I gained invaluable experience in supply chain and manufacturing Data Analytics.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, cooking, gardening, and exploring new advancements in AI.
